The staff in the bakery are fantastic. They really can through for me. A last minute birthday cupcake order they turned into a pull apart train cake with amazing detail. Affordable, friendly, helpful. Checks all the boxes .I would recommend them to anyone .

Large, bright and clean. Well stocked grocery items with plenty of variety in all departments.Staff are friendly and efficient.BONUS! They now have a sushi chef turning out some delicious selections!

I've ordered my groceries online 3 different times now, the first time was fine but the second time was awful - I had to go back 5 different times with my 3 week old baby, I was charged for the wrong order, I was given the wrong order, I was given half of the right order, their system was down so I had to have my cc with my which I didn't so my boyfriend had to go in after a 13 hour shift and pay and pay for the right order and pick up the rest of our order that was still wrong ! with many phone calls and my entire day wasted with trying to get this sorted out we got $200 in gift cards(a refund for my groceries that were just over $200) which was great and all was forgiven and I told my friends and family about this until I looked on my online banking and I had 2 charges of $220 and 1 charge of $250, I called the store AGAIN and the man was really rude about it and said well you I gave you $200 in gift cards and said I need to bring a bank statement in and then he will look into refunding it -- that was over a month ago and I still have these charges on my credit card... I tried to give them another chance and decided to order groceries online again because I understood they had a glitch in their system and my boyfriend went to go get them and the lady took over a half an hour to bring them out.. he brought the groceries home and the lemons were mouldy, the avocados were squishy, my loaf of bread, milk and baguette and 1 out of the 2 packs of yogurt were all expired I ordered steaks that were not in stock which was fine but she gave me these awful slabs of meat that was already turning dark brown and went into the garbage immediately. I had 4 things missing that I did pay for .. I didn't even bother calling because I was fed up and it wasn't worth another one of my entire days.. but the lady called to tell me that she gave me expired things because she doesn't usually listen to "them" after telling me 5 times that what "they" say doesn't matter and she doesn't bother listening to "them" she said next time she would dig further into the cooler and that I can eat the expired items for a week after they expire.. its very surprising for me because I've shopped at the independent for years and I've always been so satisfied with my produce. I'm thinking maybe they keep their expired items and spoiled fruit for the online shoppers? I'm not sure but I am very disappointed and will no longer be a costumer of the independent in port Elgin and neither will my family or friends. please save yourself the headache and don't do the online shopping, I understand that this is a new thing for them and that is why I tried again but this is just awful. I used to love the independent and I was so excited about online grocery shopping with recently becoming a new mom ! I also pray that the phone call between that lady and I was recorded so someone higher up can listen to it

It has always been clean and well stocked. The staff has been helpful in the few times I have had questions. The vegetable selection can sometimes be missing more unique vegetables but that may be a product of being in a smaller town. There is a hot meals to go section, they sell alcohol and there is a pharmacy. There are no self check out counters.

A perfectly good grocery store. I am a little confused about your independent. If it is mine then it cant very well be independent, can it? To be truly independent, you must be self-sufficient. It is important not to let others own you. Own your independence, cherish it, treasure it. Only then can you achieve self-actualization and mastery over your own life. Find out what you are, and be that thing.
